IRCC addresses resubmission letters to international students
Some media outlets reported this week that international students in Canada are being asked to resubmit their study permits and education records. According to The Times of India, some students were concerned about the email they received and believed that Indian students were targeted.
The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada clarified that these emails were not targeted towards Indian Students and reiterated that the process is “not new”
A spokesperson of the IRCC told The Pie News that letters were sent to students from any country. The IRCC analyses the documents shared by the students to make sure they meet the latest study permit conditions.
“Students from any country could receive these letters. Since India is the top source of international students in Canada, it is reasonably likely that a higher number were sent to Indian nationals,”
He continues, “IRCC officers may ask individuals to provide additional information or documentation to confirm their enrolment status,”
